Hans Jørgensen Wegner

  

Oksen var Wegners personlige favoritt, stolen hadde sin egen plass i stuen til Wegner, helt til hans død.

 

Visste du at Hans J. Wegners fikk sin inspirasjon til å tegne oksen, fra Pablo Picasso`s surrealistiske 30-talls maleri "Guernica".

 

- Wegner sa en gang  "We must take care that everything doesn't get so dreadfully serious. We must play--but we must play seriously."

1938 Studies at the Industrial Arts and Crafts College, Copenhagen

1939 Designs furniture for the library in Nyborg, Denmark

1941 Designs furniture for the Town Hall in Aarhus, Denmark

1943 Opens own Design Studio in Aarhus, Denmark

1946 Teaches at The Copenhagen School of Arts and Crafts

1946 Opens own Design Studio in Gentofte, Denmark

1946 Employed at Palle Suneson's Design Studio in Copenhagen

1951 Receives the Lunning Prize

1976 First Prize in Louis Poulsen's Competition "Street light" with Marianne Wegner

1997 Honourable member of the Royal Danish Acadamy of Fine arts, Copenhagen

1997 Receives the 8th International Design Award, Osaka, Japan

1997 Awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the Royal College of Art, London

2007 Died in Copenhagen
